Rautahat, January 23
The sole reliance of farmers on rainwater to irrigate their fields in eastern and southern Rautahat will soon come to an end if everything goes as planned.
With the completion of around 90 per cent construction work on Jamuni Irrigation Project in Kotwali Jamuni, Bara, till date, the project is likely to come into operation in six months.
The project is being constructed by Kumar/Ashish/Amar JV, Kalimati of Kathmandu, under the supervision of Narayani Irrigation Management Office, Birgunj.
“The project was expected to be completed one year ago, but this couldn’t happen due to various reasons. It will be completed in the next six months and come into operation,” said Shiva Prasad Chaulagain, official representative and owner of Amar Construction.
The project is expected to provide irrigation facility to 9,500 hectare land in Bara and Rautahat.
