KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee received complaints against five justices for the Supreme Count who were recommended by the Judicial Council on April 2.
Of the five Supreme Court justice nominees, two are career judges — Patan High Court Chief Judge Prakash Kumar Dhungana and Surkhet High Court Chief Judge Sushma Lata Mathema. Three of the nominees are former attorney general Hari Prasad Phuyal, Senior Advocate Kumar Regmi and Advocate Manoj Kumar Sharma.
According to the PHC Secretariat, two complaints were registered against Dhungana and one was registered against Phuyal. The three other complaints were related to the Constitutional Council’s procedure of nominating justices.
Senior Advocate Shambhu Thapa had led the team that lodged complaint related to the process.
