Kathmandu, October 2
Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur, today said special security arrangements were made in the district to prevent and control crimes during the festive season.
Superintendent of Police Shekhar Khanal said the Metropolitan Police Rance had devised a special security plan based on interaction held with various organisations, local clubs, academics, social workers and representatives from different political parties.
“Special police teams will be mobilised round-the-clock to ensure that people celebrate Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals without any fear of crimes, including thefts,” he informed.
As many as 1,097 police personnel, both in uniform and civvies, will be deployed in the field, he said.
Security arrangements will mainly focus on banks and financial institutions, temples, government offices, markets and crowded places.
The teams have been directed to crack down on thefts, illegal gambling, drinking brawls, and sale, distribution and use of firecrackers.
“There will be 31 foot patrolling teams, 29 pickets, 13 mobile teams, 16 control room vehicles, 33 quick response teams, 31 bicycle patrolling teams, 19 checkpoints in transits, 11 surprise checking units and 21 plainclothes teams as part of the security arrangements,” SP Khanal said.
