RAJBIRAJ: Police on Tuesday has made public a youth who was arrested on the charge of forging government documents in Saptari district.

The arrestee has been identified as 31-year-old Md Sallam Sheikh of Gorpar, Kanchanroop Municipality-11 in Saptari district.

A team of police from the Area Police Office in Kanchanroop, based on a special tip-off, had raided Sheikh’s house on March 9, 2018. They had been informed that Sheikh was forging government documents from his own residence by using official stamp of government office.

During the search, police seized citizenship certificates belonging to different people, birth registration certificates, land ownership certificates, various registration documents, personal incident certificates, blank notepads used for government works, among other documents from his house, informed Spokesperson at Saptari District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhawesh Rimal.

Sheikh had been on the run ever since. A case had been filed against him for forgery of government documents using fake stamps and signatures.

He was arrested on September 28 from Rajbiraj. It has been learnt that he used to provide documentation related services to service seekers at government offices.

DSP Rimal said that further investigation into the case was underway after seeking term extension from the district court.
