KATHMANDU: Phintso Ongdi Lama won the title of the Lumbini Insurance Invitational Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Saturday.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Lama accumulated 40 points to finish first. Swadesh Gurung came second with 39 points.
Nischaya Jung Rayamajhi won the gross section trophy with the score of 33 points. Kashmira Shah claimed the women’s section title with 36 points, while Pavitra Rai came second with 35 points. Rajendra Man Sherchan won the senior section award with 35 points finishing ahead of Brig Gen Dilip Jung Rayamajhi (32). Maj Bejoy Moktan bagged the super senior section title with 21 points. Swapnil Bhattarai and Vivaan Poudyal claimed top two spots in junior section with 21 and 20 points respectively.
Rajendra Man Sherchan won the most birdies award with four birdies, while Mithun Rai and Kalu Ghale bagged the longest drive and closest-to-the-pin awards respectively.
Tej Bahadur Rai won the best sportsmanship award. A total of 97 golfers took part in the two-day event. RNGC President Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha, Vice-President NK Rai, Lady Captain Pawitra Yakthumba, Lumbini Insurance Chairman Manohar Das Mool, Director Madhur Lal Sinnya, Director Ganesh Raj Regmi, and CEO Noor Prakash Pradhan handed over the prizes to the winners.
