Dhankuta, May 7
A private school has been constructing a building on government land located at Jorpati bazaar of Chhatharjorpati Rural Municipality in Dhankuta. The authorities concerned, however, have maintained silence.
Setogurans English Secondary Boarding School has been constructing the school building on government land located 150 metres away from the office of the rural municipality at Jorpati Bazaar for the past one month.
The authorities concerned have shown no interest in stopping the private school from constructing the building on encroached government land. The construction has been ongoing for nearly a month.
Ward No 2 office of the Chhatharjorpati Rural Municipality wrote to Setogurans English Secondary Boarding School to halt the construction work immediately.
But, the school has defied the letter and construction is under way.
Ward Chair Krishna Kumar Magar said his office would take action against the school if it continued the construction.
Meanwhile, school Principal Yagya Prasad Ojha admitted the land was government-owned.
“We have not constructed a personal house, but a school building on the land,”
Principal Ojha said in a threatening manner. He also warned he would hand over the school to the rural municipality if it stopped the construction work.
